Football Betting Tips and Tricks
Tip#1 - Do your homework
You have to understand that to be a successful football handicapper it takes a lot of hard
work and dedication to your football handicapping. You must to be willing to put in
countless hours of handicapping going over stats, injuries, trends, weather, ats, power
ratings, etc, if you plan on having a prosperous football season.
Tip#2 - Always get the best number
With a number of quality sportsbooks available now a days, point spreads vary
from sportsbook to sportsbook. It is imperative to make sure you are always getting the
best possible number available. You wouldn't want to do a good job handicapping the game
and end getting a push or a loss just because your book didn't have the best number.
Always try to have a few different sportsbook accounts funded at all times during the nfl
football season, because a 1/2 point can be the difference between a win and a push. Check
out our
sportsbook page for 4 quality sportsbooks with lines that often vary from book to
book.
Tip#3 - Straight up records can be
misleading
When doing your football handicapping, don't just judge a team by their straight up
record, see how they do against the spread. For example San Francisco had a good record of
11-7 last year but they were just 4-12-2 against the spread, where as Baltimore and
Carolina had poor records of 7-9 on the year but both teams were a profitable 10-6 ATS.
Don't be fooled by a teams place in the standings because it can be deceiving to their
results against the spread.
Tip#4 - Know your numbers
NFL football is a numbers game and the key to beating your book is understanding those
numbers and using them to your advantage in your nfl handicapping. Over half of NFL games
end with only 10 different scoring differences. These numbers are 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11,
13, 14, and 17, with 3 and 7 being the most probable endings. A 1/2 point move off any of
these numbers can be significant, which again goes back to having different sportsbooks to
make sure you get the best number available.
Tip#5 - Forget about the bad days
Don't let one horrible NFL Sunday ruin your season. Measure results based on the season
not short term. Everyone is going to have losing days, that is inevitable in this
business. Don't get distressed, stay focused and disciplined in your football handicapping
and remember there is always next week.
While we could go on and on due to time and
space we will stop here. Remember football handicapping takes a lot of hard work and
countless hours of handicapping to be a winner. Some people don't have the time, effort,
or skill to handicap football. There is no shame in using a sports handicapping service to
guide you to winning football bets, but be very careful buying sports gambling advice.
If you do pay for picks, be sure you are also provided with the analysis supporting the
